we found our home at 1305 Heather Hill Rd, the first thing we fell in love with
was the sunlight coming into the dining room and kitchen. The house is so
bright and welcoming, it was exactly what we were looking for. We were
expecting our first child in a few months, and could immediately imagine
raising him in the bright, sunny house. The large backyard, which we knew we
would fence in, would be perfect for our kids to play and our dog to run
around. Exploring the basement, we were pleased to find all of the storage down
there and the fact that it was a cozy, clean and finished basement: perfect for
a family movie nights. I love the nature surrounding the house. I did not
expect to live in Baltimore and see so much wildlife. In the spring, you can
find bunnies jumping around in all the yards. Throughout the year you can spot
a family of foxes darting between houses (very peaceful foxes). Sometimes
you’ll see a family of deer making their way through backyards. And endless
bird watching that you can do from the kitchen window. Within the neighborhood,
you can walk to Overlook Park and jump on rocks in the stream, or make your way
up to the playground. I
will miss our backyard the most. Every evening we go out to the backyard and
run around with the kids, or sit at our table and enjoy a drink with the
sunset. It is so peaceful, spacious, and relaxing. Before we moved in we had
the chimney and fireplace worked on and improved. After moving in we put on a
new roof, and soon after that we added solar panels. We fenced in the backyard.
We added trees (that we are very sad we wont be able to watch them grow!). We
put in a playset for the kids, and a composting system for a garden. We added a
security system. We bought new blinds for the entire house, and added new light
fixtures in the dining room and kitchen. Glendale/Glenmont is one of the
friendliest neighborhoods I’ve ever lived in. Everyone takes such good care of
their properties and yards, and the neighbors were always there to help. Our
direct neighbors are some of the best people, definitely the best neighbors you
could ask for. They would bring presents over for our kids on Christmas, the
other neighbors were always available to help with pet sitting when we went out
of town, and down the street we met some of our closest friends. Neighborhood
walks were one of our favorite activities while living there. There’s an ice
cream truck that comes some evenings! And you’re in walking distance to three
playgrounds and a stream. Some of the things we love about living in
Glendale/Glenmont is that you’re right next to Towson so you can enjoy all the
restaurants and shopping there, but you also aren’t a far drive away from
downtown Baltimore for when you really want to go big for a date night or take
the kids to Port Discovery or the aquarium. The best take out restaurant is
Villagio Cafe, the best pizza is Baltoz, the best date night restaurants are La
Cuchara, Le Comptoir du Vin, and Cosima. There are so many more, I could keep
going. We moved to this neighborhood
to be near Baltimore but not in the city. We wanted space and safety for our
kids, but to still be near the fun filled activities that living in a city can
provide. Living tucked in the back of the neighborhood feels amazingly safe for
families. I think I’ve said it all! We
loved this house!
