When we found our home, we were immediately attracted to the great neighborhood. As a young married couple, we knew we wanted to find a home that would be ideal for starting a family, and this home was perfect in that respect! We were also impressed with the layout of the house, something about it just made it feel like “home.”               

We really love our home’s main living space with the huge front window and fireplace.   That front room gets great sun in the morning and is a nice, cozy room to hang out in with the family. The fireplace is great in the winter time!

We love our backyard  – it’s so easily accessible and and our kids spend a lot of time out there all year round!      The gorgeous retaining walls we had put in are both functional and elegant and really set the yard apart.

UPDATES

We have made many upgrades to the home since we purchased it. We have painted all of the rooms, updated both upstairs bathrooms, replaced the windows fairly recently, got a new front door about two years ago, and had a new roof installed a few months ago. We built a shed in the backyard and put in a ramp for easy access. In the garage, we added cabinetry for lots of extra storage. And we refinished our driveway so it looks brand new. We’ve also landscaped in the front and back with perennials and flowers. 

WE LOVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD!

Colonial Gardens is a great community!   There are a lot of families here that have lived in their homes since they were was built and lots of newer families as well. Everyone is always looking out for each other, there is a real sense of community. There is a community yard sale twice per year.   

WE LOVE CATONSVILLE!

We love the 4th of July festivities in Catonsville. We attend the parade and fireworks every year. We love how close we are to Historic Ellicott City and that we can take a bike ride from our house using the Trolley Trail which is just a short ride down the street. There are lots of great hiking trails close by, too!      

Some of our favorite restaurants in the area are Scittinos, The Trolley Stop, Franco’s, Peace A Pizza and Little Phoenix, there are lots of others, but those are the ones we frequent the most.              The grocery store we use is Giant. I’ve been shopping there for years and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Have also done a little shopping in H Mart.  We moved to this section of Baltimore County because it has a small town feel, but is close to Baltimore City, and many types of shopping and fun attractions.

 

In Catonsville the schools are great, and there are lots of options for dining and shopping not that far away. We love living in Catonsville and can’t imagine living anywhere else.  In fact, we are moving just around the corner!

OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND AREA

The Woodfield neighborhood in one word…amazing!  From great neighbors holding community yard sales and parties through community walking groups and social activities; the neighborhood is ideal for both seclusion and neighborhood activities. 

Reisterstown is modern but historic at the same time with countless activities (parades, festivals, Music on Main).   It has a small town feel without the constraints of a small town, with an emphasis on a mix of urban and country life; Reisterstown is an ideal place to raise kids. 

This particular area of Reisterstown is especially well suited for walking; from walking around the Liberty Reservoir through walking the cul de sac; you’ll be immersed in a beautiful natural landscape.

Some of our favorite restaurants in the area are Harryman House, Glyndon Grill, Full Moon Pub, Fierenze, Playoffs, and Geneova’s.  I use many of the grocery stores depending on what I am looking for.  Santoni’s Market, Giant, Aldi and Food Lion are in town and Trader Joe’s and Wegmans are close by as well.  They are in the process of building a new Wegmans in Owings Mills (5-7 min from our house). 

Living in this part of Central Maryland gives us fantastic access to Washington, DC, Baltimore, Annapolis, the Eastern Shore beaches and the mountains in Western Maryland.  We moved to Baltimore County because of the great schools, access to businesses, easy commute to the city and great transportation (bus and trains).  We are going to miss living here!
