What first attracted you to your home at 7824 Callington Way, Hanover, MD
When we first found our home in the Villages Of Dorchester , we were looking to be close to Fort Meade. We wanted to eliminate a long commute in the morning and evening- traffic can get heavy if you have to drive from further away. We loved how close and convenient everything was that we needed. Work, play and shopping. We liked the “newness” of the community and the profusion of amenities.
What made this house “The One”?
To be honest we fell in love with the house before we even went inside. The glorious front porch that stretches across the front of the home had us sold right away. When we stepped inside the door we instantly knew that we were home. The spaciousness of the open plan main level with the huge kitchen and family room was just what we were looking for. We love the high ceilings and the natural light that cascades in.
What are your favorite features about your home?
After living in the home we agree that the study in the front of the house is a peaceful sanctuary to read in that we did not know we would enjoy. The kitchen is wonderful for entertaining and even the cook is part of the fun. Our Master Bedroom & Bathroom are a delight to relax in. No fighting over closet space. The unfinished basement has been great for work out equipment and we love having a 2 car garage. As busy people we enjoy having a detached home, but with minimal exterior maintenance too.
What do you like about the community?
The neighbors are super friendly and helpful. The people who live here feel genuinely invested in each other and it gives you a small-town feel in a large commuter area. We will miss them. In the community we love the running trails, the pool and the playgrounds. We can walk to the pool and its included in the HOA unlike some areas. There are also some great events and groups that are within the community too. There really is something for everyone here.
What do you like about the neighborhood and local shopping?
The shopping center on the corner that is walking distance, has been wonderful because it is so close. We will miss Starbucks and Bagels & Grinds for breakfast and coffee on the weekends.
We love to dine at Grillfire and Rangoli has the best local Indian food we have ever had. Vivos also has a great atmosphere. We are spoilt for choice.
Local grocery stores include Safeway, which delivers (a huge plus). Also, Wegmans and Trader Joes are a short 20-25 minutes away.
What are the best features about the Hanover area?
We are centrally located to almost anything we would want to do, whether we want to go explore the nation’s capital of Washington DC, walk around the inner harbor of Baltimore or discover historic Annapolis, we are a convenient 25 minutes from each (or less) and of course all the shopping delights at Arundel Mills or even Columbia Mall is just around the corner.
