When we discovered 607 Plymouth Road, we had been searching for a something that was not just a basic house. Our home not only delivers in charm, but has so many great classic features as well. Almost 100 years old, it is a unique style Cape Cod with plenty of living space
It was delightful to have an option for a single-family dwelling with a terrific spacious and level yard, off-street parking and a 1 car garage too. The best kept secret is that in the Spring, the cherry blossom tree in the front is spectacular.
Our home is warm and inviting. The main area has beautiful pillars, high ceilings and built-in cabinets. Although we have never used the fireplace, it’s a great aesthetic addition. What we love about our home continues to be the quirkiness and unique character it still has. It’s a very social space, but with enough bedrooms to provide plenty of privacy for all of our family. The screened porch on the side has always been a favorite spot for a morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine.
Since we moved here, we have updated the roof, the living & dining room, and the side porch. The porch was open, but now it is screened in, we put in laminate flooring in the living and dining room as well as renovated the ceiling and put in recessed lights. We did what we could to modernize parts of the living space without losing original fixtures and character where we could. The kitchen is updated too.
In Westgate our neighborhood has a strong group of collaborating neighbors. It’s a quiet street with very friendly people. There are community meetings and get togethers. Some things we love about living in Catonsville is the community. There are many families who have stayed around here for generations. That kind of history is not something you should discount; people love staying here.
Some of our favorite restaurants around here are El Patron, Little Phoenix, Chef Paulinos, and Thai Heaven. This gives you a go to spot for Mexican, Chinese, Italian, and Thai. All great places. Catonsville has become a “Foodie Haven” in the past few years.
The grocery store we use is Shoppers for a quick buy. However, there is a lot to choose from- Safeway, Aldi, Lidl, and Giant. Also, there is Hmart and Great Wall for your Asian marts.
There are lots of great parks nearby with Patapsco so close and even the best kept secret in the area is Leakin Park. The model trains that run on Sundays are the highlight of the week for little kids.
We moved into this area for the school system. The schools are consistent in any neighborhood in Catonsville. We had 3 kids go through Westowne and we could not have been happier. Westowne Elementary is such a great “State of the Art” school and Catonsville Middle was wonderful too.
In Catonsville there is so much to enjoy, the library, Opies, the farmers market, food truck Thursdays, all the festivals and the wide range of music too…everything is built around the community
