WHAT THE SELLER LOVES ABOUT THEIR HOME

After looking at many houses, as soon as we walked in, I knew that this was the ONE. The high ceiling and open floor plan makes it feel so spacious. When we walked in, our house already felt like a "home". We spend most of our time in our sun room where we are able to enjoy the change of seasons every day. It is really magical to cozy in with hot chocolate and watch the snow fall.

When the kids have friends over, they love to hangout in the lower level. They have their privacy, but we can keep an eye on things too!

We have made many updates to the house to include new roof, enclosed sun room, new bamboo floor on main floor, and new tiling in kitchen, updated guest bathroom, new kitchen appliances, new HVAC, new hot water heater, new carpet upstairs, new washer and dryer, finished basement to include adding two large closets, put in a water garden in backyard (get credit on watershed fee), energy audit and conservation updates, put in 4th bedroom, new electrical panel.

We are lucky to have very reasonable utility costs, especially since completing updates from the energy audit. BGE and Constellation provide our gas and electricity, which averages $185/mo ($86 – $260).

We have solar panels with Vivant Solar, and with that "rental", we get reduced electrical costs from the solar energy we generate for an average of $38/mo. Water and sewer is provided by Howard County and run around $110 every three months. Comcast and Verizon provide internet, cable and local phone services, and the costs vary depending upon what you choose.

AMAZING NEIGHBORHOOD

Jeffers Hill is an amazing neighborhood. We love to take walks or bike on the trails and around Sewell's Orchard pond and Lake Elkhorn. We are also very close to the new Blandair park which provides great play areas, open areas, and sport fields. Our elementary school is only 3 blocks away. But by far, the best part of our neighborhood is the people. Our cul de sac is like a family; we look after each other and gather to celebrate life events. You will LOVE your new neighbors! We wish we could take them with us!

Columbia is an amazing place to live. We love the diversity that is represented here, economically, racially, ethnically, etc. You can't ask for a better location with easy access to either Baltimore or DC for work or play. Almost anything that you could possibly want to do is within close proximity to Columbia, arts, outdoor activities, sporting events and shopping. It has also been great to be within 15-20 minutes to a major international airport (BWI). The only down side to Columbia for us, is that our extended family isn't here. If they were, we would love to stay in Columbia! It is a wonderful place to live and raise a family.

You name the food (Mexican, Thai, Italian, Middle Eastern, burgers, healthy options), it is close at hand. Some of our favorites are Maiwand Kabobs, Nalley Fresh, Bertucci's, and for special occasions King's Contrivance Restaurant.

We are so lucky to have so many amazing choices for grocery shopping. We do most of our regular grocery shopping at the two Giant grocery stores both within a 5 minute drive. But we also frequently go to Whole Foods, MOMs (My Organic Market), David's Natural Market, and Wegman's, all easily accessible from our home. Both Target and Wal-Mart are less than a 5 min drive to go pick up a little of everything. The Oakland Mills Farmers' Market, open Sundays from May through November (9am to 1pm), gives us access to fresh, local, seasonal produce, grass fed meats, fresh eggs and baked goods, and flowers.

GREAT HOWARD COUNTY SCHOOLS

We initially chose Columbia because of it to its great location and easy accessibility to DC and Baltimore and its diversity. As our family grew, we were so lucky that Howard County has an amazing school system. We never lack for something to do within a short drive.

Howard County is known for its great school system and also has a nationally top-ranked library system. We love our library (East Columbia); it has wonderful activities for little ones through seniors.
