Our street is very friendly with lovely neighbors and lots of pools and swimming invitations in the summertime.

We're close to the Trolley Trail which is great for biking and walking. Some of the things we love about Catonsville are the small town feel of a large town, great schools, proximity to DC and Baltimore, good restaurants, our wonderful State Parks, and our awesome Farmer's Markets.

In the village are numerous restaurants-Catonsville Gourmet for seafood, Sea Hut Inn for the best crabs ever, Franco’s for good Italian, Jennings for bar food, and of course, the nationally famous SugarBakers for pies, cakes, and goodies! We love the Asian grocery here for fresh fish, seafood and great produce and you cannot beat the selection at Trueths (it’s an experience in itself) The Breadery is close by too which is our go-to for fresh artisan bread. They recently expanded their offerings. We've been in Catonsville since our college days, many years ago. We came for school and stayed because it's a great place to raise kids and we loved the homes and strong feeling of community. It's safe and convenient and life has been easy to maneuver from here.           Catonsville is home to the Community College of Baltimore County at Catonsville. UMBC, very good public elementary, middle and high school, as well as Catholic grade schools and high schools.

I’m sure you’ve heard the song “Summertime…where the living is easy". Have YOU reached that time of life where the summer means never ending yard work, Fall is about raking and bagging all those leaves and then the nightmare of snow removal is looming on the horizon? Do you have that big house that needs constant maintenance, but you only live in 25% of it- BUT YOU DON’T WANT TO LEAVE HOWARD COUNTY?

Time to make your living easy!

Welcome Home to Waverly Mews. Only 3 years young, this exquisite, convenient "55 or better" condo shows like a model home. Bright and cherished, this lovely main level unit is steps from the pool, the delightful club-house and the well-equipped fitness center.

What the Sellers wanted you to know.

When we found our home at 2121 John Stuart Rd in Marriottsville MD we knew it was perfect for us. The “location “was one of the most important items on our “must have” list.  Located near, but not too near, highways, we knew we could quickly access the sites and towns in and around Baltimore, DC and New York.

The convenience of condo living is the best kept secret: having the lawn and exterior structures maintained for us, was what we wanted. When we saw the model of our condo with a large, open concept living, kitchen, and dining area, we knew it would be perfect for our lifestyle. What we love about our home is the spacious floor plan. All the interior rooms are large and comfortable. We have generous storage areas, closets and cabinets. The rooms are flooded with light from the many windows and living on the ground floor provides us easy access to the ample parking. We love fixing dinner in our kitchen and nothing beats the pleasure of friends and family sitting at the counter while we entertain. We are not excluded from the conversation and yet dinner is always on time! Early mornings are treasured moments of either a cup of coffee sitting out on the patio enjoying  the green space planted with wild flowers and tall trees or a pleasant walk along the many trails with our puppy. The paved walking path for Waverly Woods winds through beautiful tree canopies and provides views of deer and other wildlife. We meet so many of the neighbors and everyone is friendly and pleasant.  We also appreciate the safety of the many street lamps and well-lit sidewalks. The front entry door requires a code providing additional security to condo residents, but we prefer the convenience of our patio entrance.  The mailbox is steps away from the front door- also another place for an afternoon conversation. We wanted a fireplace for chilly winter days. So when selecting condo interiors we upgraded with an attractive gas fireplace and mantle surround. It was well worth the investment. We also selected upgraded carpeting to be sure the flooring was going to be comfortable and would last. We installed custom window coverings in every room, ceiling fans in living and bedrooms, had custom crown moldings installed in the main living room, custom window moldings in the bedrooms, and custom paint accents in the dining room and master bedroom. We also purchased a lovely custom light fixture for our dining room.

Our utility costs are remarkably low. BGE is around $90 per month. Our condo heat and cook top are gas (many other condos communities are electric) and the ceiling fans keep our cooling costs low.

Looking for a social life? This community really has it all. In our community we have many activities in which to participate. The pool and gym are gathering places for residents and yet another venue for meeting our neighbors. We receive bi-monthly newsletters keeping us informed about events in the Clubhouse.  Activities include book club meetings, football watch parties, CPR classes, Toys for Tots charity drives, and groups for knitting, Bridge, Chess, biking, Second Monday Lunch and more. There is really something for everyone. The Waverly Woods “Lend A Hand Group” provides temporary assistance to any resident needing help. We are glad to be surrounded by such active and friendly neighbors and we really will miss them.

One of our priorities was being close to our family and especially our Grandchildren. They attend the fantastic Howard County Schools that are close by. In the summer they love coming to visit. Despite our Salt Water pool being ADULT ONLY (which is a huge feature to some of our neighbors), across Marriottsville Road a large Olympic size pool with splash pad and nearby playground are available to Condo residents and their families. That’s a big win in our opinion.

The area is outstanding. We are surrounded by all the conveniences we want, but in a beautiful wooded area set back from the rest of the world. The new “Turf Valley Towne Square” is fantastic and offers summer evening concerts and excellent dining options. Combined with Waverly Woods shopping and restaurants we are spoilt for choice. Some of our favorite restaurants within minutes of our home include Primos Pizza and Italian Food, The 620 Grill, Facci’s, Compadres Mexican Food, Rita’s, Dunkin Donuts, and Players Bar and Grill. The grocery store we predominantly use is Harris Teeter, but WEIS, like Harris Teeter, is only minutes away from our condo. If you like to golf you have the luxury of 2 exceptional golf courses to choose from too. A cheeky “Spa Day” at the Turf Valley Resort is always a delight and a wonderful way to celebrate pretty much anything.

We moved to Howard County after researching quality of living and crime statistics in the Baltimore area, the availability of doctors and medical facilities, and the age(s) of residents in and around Marriottsville. Veterinarian pet care is just minutes away and the elevated location of our condo eliminates any concerns about flooding. We were sold by what our research uncovered.

Finally, we value being near everything we could possibly need- BWI, Ellicott City (old and new), Columbia Mall, Baltimore, Washington DC, quaint and historic Frederick, “Philly”, Gettysburg, Annapolis Sykesville, Patapsco State Park, and the many museums and places of interest.

We hope you will be as HAPPY here as we have been.

Steeped in character and charm, yet affordable and beautifully updated and maintained, this lovely, solid brick classic, light filled home is ideal. The BRAND NEW ROOF is only hours old and still has hot nails. The spacious interior is sure to please. Fresh bright colors throughout, refinished gleaming hardwood floors, updated kitchen, Central AC and replacement windows. Private parking, but yet tons of street parking on the lovely wide street. A huge screened in porch offers "Summer Living" without the bugs. A finished basement could be anything you want it to be and has a half bath too. Good sized bedrooms upstairs. County schools (Westowne is almost brand new) and unbelievably convenient to down town Baltimore, BWI, Ellicott City and even Fort Meade. Catonsville is the best kept secret around-character, community and commerce. #LivingInCatonsville.  You can have it all!

Here is what the sellers have to say.

When we found our wonderful Catonsville home at 5520 Medwick Garth we fell in love immediately; the quiet neighborhood felt just small enough to feel like a close, safe community, and the home was in great shape and clearly taken well care of by its previous owner. We wanted a home with character and this home was exactly what we were looking for. The hardwood floors and bright rooms within the home were also a draw. Having easy parking in the front and private parking in the back was an added bonus.

What we love about our home is the ample space and unique features. We especially enjoy the screened in porch and back patio area. During the spring, summer and fall we eat dinner on the porch. It feels like an oasis every day after coming home from work. The fans throughout the house are high quality and really decrease the energy use of the home. The easy-to-clean, updated windows are also a great energy saver and look crystal clear, bringing a lot of light into the house. We love how quiet and private the home is but with the sense of community as soon as we stepped out of our front door. We love the location of the home, as there is no traffic or parking problems, and yet we are so close to everything.

We completely renovated the kitchen with brand new appliances, flooring, opened up the wall between the kitchen and the dining room and added a full counter-height bar for more space. We repainted the cabinets. We updated the fixtures in the bathroom upstairs. We refinished hardwoods throughout the house and put in new flooring in the basement. We repainted the porch and garage/shed. We recently re-roofed the home and put in a new storm door.

Our utilities with BGE are very low with electric and gas together ranging from 60-90 per month. Water is very cheap in the county, only approximately $15 per quarter!

In Medwick Garth, the neighborhood is great for families of all ages. We enjoyed getting to know all of our neighbors and each year we helped with spring and summer neighborhood clean-up events on the weekends, as well as block parties each summer. We got to know our neighbors well and everyone shovels snow together in the winter and helps each other out.

Some of the things we love about living in Catonsville is that it is close to everything! Being close to the beltway was really nice for commuting and getting to fun weekend getaways easily. We loved the restaurants nearby (Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Japanese) and the easy access to lots of shopping on Rt. 40. Catonsville has great schools and an amazing weekend farmers market to get fresh food.

Some of our favorite restaurants in the area are Indian Delight which has fantastic Indian food, and a great lunch buffet and Catonsville Gourmet which has exceptional seafood and is ideal for any celebration! Black Kettle, in downtown Catonsville, serves delicious cocktails that could be created by top bartenders in any top city, along with great burgers and other food. We loved Hunan Taste, on Rt 40, which makes great authentic Chinese food too.    T

The grocery store choices are incredible- from every direction within several minutes you have a Giant, a Safeway, multiple asian marts for cheap produce, and an Aldi on Rt 40.      We moved to Baltimore County because of the great housing in a wonderful area that was convenient to the beltway and 95 for easy commuting. UMBC was also a strong draw for us as an employer that is just minutes away. Catonsville is a very attractive area for people to buy their first home, raise a family, and to settle in for a lifetime because it offers a small town feel with all of the conveniences and amenities you could ever ask for.              In Catonsville you are close to great parks for hiking, biking, walking and running. You are also close to shopping, entertainment, great schools (elementary through college) and grocery stores.
