When we found our home at 1051 Ironwood Lane we knew instantly that it was the perfect place for our family. We had searched and scoured the area looking at dozens of homes in multiple communities and neighborhoods. The elegant entrance to the Buckingham community welcomed us into this classy and upscale brick neighborhood. It was and is so quiet, clean and well kept. There were homes available for quick move but this lot was worth waiting for. The lot is amazing and it’s what makes our home so special. Anyone can choose nice finishes inside a house but you don’t often have the chance to pick a prime location with so many perks and benefits. Not only is the location of the community ideal but the location of our home within the community is, too. Buckingham is five minutes or less from every major highway connecting this busy area. Each major city is a puddle jump away from our home. We are one exit from the endless dining and entertainment of Arundel Mills. However, what makes this place perfect is that we are on our own little island, an oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle but just far enough in the right direction to give us peace and serenity at home. Getting here from anywhere even during peak traffic is never an issue. Our home itself is an end unit surrounded by the luxury of extra space. We have a gorgeous tree line on the front side and an open guest lot on the back side. The close proximity to the guest lot provides constant access to extra parking and a wide-open view from our patio. Because of the open lot our patio doesn’t stare at someone else’s it makes it so much more refreshing and relaxing to be outdoors enjoying the deck. The location of our deck makes it feel like an extension of the living room. It’s the perfect amount of privacy and since townhomes are connected they don’t typically offer the type of open air feel that this supreme location has offered us. This place is incredibly quiet and that is something no other neighborhood we toured even came close to. The end unit with all of this extra breathing room also lets in so much natural light. I love that I don’t need lights during the day just have to open the blinds. Military life is the reason this is not our forever home otherwise we would stay here because we love it. I hope someone finds this gem of a place and loves it the way we have! What I love about our home most, besides how beautiful it is, would be the location. I love to sit at the dining room table facing the open windows that look out at the trees. I see birds bunnies and occasionally a doe off in the distance. The nature is peaceful and beautiful. I love the trail that loops around the perimeter of the property. We have run and jogged with our babies and taken regular family walks. We love that we are so happy here. I frequently enjoy breakfast in my pj’s on warm summer mornings out on the deck. The privacy wall blocks me from view of my adjacent neighbors while I enjoy quiet time out on the patio. Another perk we didn’t know of when we chose this lot, all of the neighbors who we have come to know are wonderful people. Adjacent to us and each side that we are near are respectful friendly working people and caring families. Quiet neighbors who are considerate and also helpful, like a community should be. Buckingham is one in a million a true blessing. We will miss our neighbors and our community dearly. The house itself is luxurious and beautiful. The master bath is my get away some days when I just need to pamper and take a bubble soak in the humongous garden style tub. What’s not to love about this home?

UPGRADES TO 1051 IRONWOOD LANE

We have added vertical storage on the pantry door, backsplash, crown molding, accent tile to the fireplace. Listello tile to decorate the tile in the upstairs bathrooms. Built-ins in the living room. I love having the full bath on the first floor. We painted the garage. Added a privacy wall on the deck. Our appliances are top of the line. Granite countertops, maple wood upgraded cabinets and dark hardwood floors… Upgraded tile and stone countertops in the bathrooms. Our utility costs are better than we had at previous residences. All of our appliances are high efficiency and we have a lot of natural light to eliminate the need for running lights during the day. We use BG&E.

COMMUNITY & AMENITIES

In the Buckingham neighborhood we have an annual summer block party. Each year has been fun and entertaining way to meet neighbors and socialize with the community. I like that there isn’t a pool or play area because I truly value peace and quiet. I can go to a pool or playground anytime but at home what I really want is peace and serenity from the business of life and work. The simplicity and quiet corner of my neighborhood is what gives it so much charm. Less is more when you are looking for a peaceful quiet home that feels like a retreat. The Merritt fitness center is just a short walk away it is part of the property our community is located on. The gym is open 24 hrs. and offers classes and equipment at a walkable distance from my home. Many of my neighbors are commuters who I don’t see even often but the ones living closest to me or who I pass on my walks are friendly and kind. I have never had an issue with a neighbor and have built friendships with many people here.

I love Hanover because it’s more than a suburb but less intense than a big city. For people who like to be part of the action there is no shortage of entertainment at live casino and 15 min away in downtown Baltimore or inner harbor. We are also a short drive or short train ride from DC. The proximity to the airport is a huge bonus I never have to worry about airport parking because I leave my car at home. It costs $6 to Uber there for a flight. I never hear airplane noise overhead but occasionally see them in the distance. The runways do not pass over or near my neighborhood at all. There is no airport noise but we are just over 5 minutes and less than 10 minutes away. I can get to the base in a few short minutes. Hanover is the perfect hub for getting to and from Annapolis Columbia Baltimore DC Pasadena Odenton Glen Burnie Severn Ellicott City Elkridge without congestion or traffic problems.

We love to eat at Vivo and Grillfire. We love Bagels and grinds and Zinburger. We love Arturo’s Trattoria and Timbuktu. Also, the Cheesecake Factory and DuClaw. We watch sporting events at buffalo wild wings and the Greene turtle. There are plenty of fast food and convenience options like Panera chipotle chick fil a Starbucks and literally anything you can think of. Carlson’s Donuts is a special weekend treat for our family, they are delicious! If you can crave it you can find it within minutes of Buckingham.

I shop my bigger trips at the commissary and the super Walmart on Quarterfield. The best part of the Walmart closest to here is the pickup option. When you’re busy just order your groceries and have them brought to your car promptly and loaded for you. No hassle. I like shopping at Sam’s and Costco for baby needs. Safeway is perfect for fresh flowers, quality seafood and for the convenience of it being so close. Giant is also just down the road if you take Dorsey and they have a great natural section for health-conscious buyers. Target is less than 10 min. Literally anything and everything is in close proximity here.

We moved to Anne Arundel county because it has a good reputation and we have not been disappointed. The libraries and children’s events have been wonderful. We feel safe and comfortable here. It’s bright and new and up and coming but yet it’s also an established and complete neighborhood. The growth is inspiring the small neighborhood size is comfortable. There are endless options you could never get bored here. Whatever you want to do you will find here. Test the theory, google something and you will see its near here. Any type of food, entertainment, rock climbing, movies, petting zoos night life, the aquarium, museums, libraries, salsa dancing, happy hour, music lessons, craft stores, Arundel mills, bass pro shops, any store you want, multiple malls and shopping centers, hotels, spa and massage services, nail and hair salons, it’s all near here. We have found wonderful schools for our children here and healthcare and dental providers. If you wanted to you could be totally sufficient without ever leaving a 2-mile radius. That’s the beautiful thing you are close to everything with the convenient option to stay as close or venture as far out as you want from this wonderful location.
