This is “THAT” house on a picturesque tree lined street in walking distance to everything in 21228!  Oozing with updates and upgrades and yet gloriously maintaining the classic integrity and character of a solid brick pre-WWII home in Historic Summit Park, we proudly present 115 Fairfield Drive..

After 37 years of being loved by the current owners, this gorgeous Colonial, in one of the best neighborhoods in Catonsville, is on the market……….but not for long!  So many exquisite renovations your head will spin including an open concept floorplan, a brand-NEW sophisticated kitchen boasting quartz counters, full sized cabinets and stainless-steel appliances.  Remodeled bathrooms on every floor, NEWLY installed central AC (but retaining the classic radiators for that toasty winter warmth), ultra-modernized full basement, refinished original hardwood floors in a tasty expresso stain, brand NEW driveway that can accommodate multiple cars, the list of enhancements is abundant!

Situated on a generous .3 of an acre lot, the first thing you will notice is the breathtaking white sycamore tree adorning the front of the house. Neighbors tell of the days the tree would be decorated as a ghost for Halloween- a lovely tradition that would be exciting to revive!

The huge level backyard with flagstone patio is an entertainer’s dream.  Perfect for hosting get-togethers, large or small.  The garage is fully wired and is great for not just storing your car, but also a fantastic space perfect for the handyman……..not that you need to do anything in this home!

The interior features include the enchanting historic portico with vaulted ceiling. Sun bathed rooms with 10-foot ceilings; 2500+ sq. feet of living space with natural wood finishes and original glass door knobs; A huge living room/dining room with a gas fireplace and a bonusfamily room on the same level; 4 bedrooms upstairs and an exposed brick, “four seasons” sun room (perfect for an office or playroom in the heart of the house) and an additional enclosed porch just off the kitchen add to the abundance of living space.

This home has it all from the location, the size, the features and finishes, and the school district!

Welcome to the best kept secret in Catonsville – 115 Fairfield Drive!

WHAT THE SELLERS LOVE

When we found our home at 115 Fairfield Drive 37 years ago, we were first attracted by the historic charm of the home and the neighborhood, the great yard and driveway, and all the brick detail inside and out.  We decided to make some amazing updates for the next homeowners, but it makes us wish we had done it years ago!

We love so many things about our home.  We love the great light for sitting and reading a book in the brick sunroom, the wonderful patio that is great for grilling and outdoor dinners in the summer, socializing with friends or curling up with a book on the back porch, and all the great extra space in the basement for everything from watching TV to doing yoga. We love the great balance of historic charm, like the original woodwork and original hardwood doors, in a home that also has seamless modern upgrades like a new kitchen and central air.

WE LOVE CATONSVILLE

Fairfield is a beautiful vibrant residential street with a unique canopy ordinance protecting the resplendent natural distinction. Never spoken, but the pride in the conservation of the front lawns on Fairfield Drive is almost a badge of honor. It’s a true “Norman Rockwell” kind of street! Despite it’s incredible convenience to Rolling Rd, it is not used as a thru way and we rarely see cars that are not residents. It is filled with friendly neighbors and the delightful sounds of children laughing and enjoying the outside…….even when it’s freezing cold.  People all know one another and look out for each other. Dog owners, strollers, runners and walkers wave to each other and even stop for a chat if time allows.

The location of our house really couldn’t be better!  We are in easy walking distance to the Catonsville Library, Hillcrest Elementary (which arguably has the healthiest PTA in the area- annually they raise over $50,000 to enhance the students experience and help out the teachers), Catonsville High School, Post office, Five Oaks Swim Club, and Patapsco State Park.  We are also in very reasonable walking distance to all the great restaurants and shops in Downtown Catonsville, like Catonsville Gourmet, Atwater’s, Franco’s, The Black Kettle, Matthews 1600, Ship’s Cafe, Jennings, a great bike shop, ice cream shop, candy shop and much more. Nothing beats a stroll home after a delicious meal.

The legendary Catonsville “Fourth of July” festivities are one of our favorite annual events. No need to even put out a chair a month in advance. (If you don’t understand what that means you will be in for a massive surprise next June) We are lucky to be just two blocks to the parade route and a short walk to the fireworks! Merely minutes IF you don’t stop at all the parties and gatherings that are on the way on the best day of the year.

Frederick Road Fridays, the Annual ‘Arts and Crafts Festival”, the arrival of Santa and the Sunday Farmers market are also a convenient promenade from door to door. No need to worry about parking!

We moved to Catonsville all those many years ago because it has a small-town feel right outside Baltimore and is a quick, easy commute to DC by car or MARC train.  We love the great historic downtown, fantastic schools, the state park access and ease of getting down to the stadiums and downtown Baltimore quickly. Although very sad to leave, we wish only wonderful memories to be made by the new owners.
