What the original owners say about their home: When my husband and I first found our home on Davis Road, we had been looking for quite a long time. We combed through batch after batch of listings from our agent. We were attracted to the new construction in the neighborhood that a friend (who used to live here, too!) had talked to us about. We love the convenient location where we are literally in the middle of shopping, schools, and major metropolitan areas. We were looking for a home with gas heat instead of a heat pump and, at the time, we had a growing family, so we found the house to be a great size, and it was great to be on a cul-de-sac where the children could play. Our home has so many things to love! It makes it hard to pare down our list. Some of the highlights do seem to follow the calendar. For instance, in the Spring and Summer, we love to listen to the “peepers” in the open space out back. Our backyard is large enough and flat enough for pitching tents for Girl Scouts or putting another swing set. The layout of the main floor is conducive to having our family gatherings, especially at Christmas time. We use the island in the kitchen to have fondue during family and friend gatherings. And lastly, we love our fireplace on those cold, dreary winter evenings.

UPDATES TO DAVIS ROAD: It has been 24 years, so be prepared for a bit of a list! We have… A new roof in 2016! New AC and furnace in 2014. Added deck with stairs built onto back of house. Replaced the fireplace. Replaced both sliding doors. We put ceiling fans in the 4 bedrooms and in the kitchen area and family room. And, we have freshly painted throughout the home and put up new light switch and outlet covers. Now on to each room. Kitchen- Upgraded to all stainless steel appliances. Installed new counter tops. Installed new lighting fixtures. Put in an undermount sink, and new faucet, new flooring, new cabinet knobs and refinished fronts. Added adjustable shelving in pantry closet, under the cabinet lighting, and a USB outlet. Family Room – New Pergo flooring. Hallway and foyer – New Pergo-type flooring, new ceiling light , programmable outdoor light switch, and the closet has updated shelving. Powder Room- We redid this room completely…new tile flooring, new, more stylish vanity faucet and mirror, new toilet, and new light fixture. Dining Room – New chandelier, chair railing, and a programmable thermostat for the furnace/ac. Master bedroom-updated closet with new shelving, laminated flooring, and a new light fixture. Hall bathroom- new light fixtures, flooring, toilet seat, towel bar, refinished the vanity and put on new knobs and faucet, and replaced the shower head and put in a curved shower rod. Updated shelving in 2 of the bedrooms.

We are in an out parcel of Columbia, so we have no CPRA taxes. In Longridge Knolls, we have community areas where one can sled in winter and play ball in summer or walk your dog all year long. Both streets are dead ends, so walking is pretty safe and the streets are relatively quiet. Our neighbors are friendly and the community is stable. We are currently starting to experience the turn over that happens in neighborhoods that are this age, getting more young families, but a lot of us have been around a long time. Some of our favorite restaurants in the area are: T-bonz, Mimi’s Café, La Madeleine, Bare Bones, Bean Hollow Coffee shop in Historic Ellicott City (particularly popular with our 20 somethings!) Hunan Manor and Hunan Lion, Waterloo Subs and Pizza and, although this place in in Linthicum, we love G & M Restaurant for their crab cakes The grocery stores we frequent are in order as follows: Wegmans, Giant, Weis, Costco. We moved to Howard County for work which is plentiful in this area. But it didn’t hurt that the house is located where there are good schools and many opportunities for young families. We have easy access to the major routes- 29, 95, 97, 295, 100 and 175. We are near BWI airport and it is easy to get there. Finally, we are located between Baltimore and Washington, DC and are near Fort Meade. In Howard County, we have one of the top rated school systems in the country. Also, the library system is top rated and is constantly being upgraded. Oh, and if you are looking for the best shopping, here it is. We are surrounded by all sorts of shopping opportunities, from malls like Columbia Mall or Arundel Mills Mall to thrift stores like Second Avenue.
